Terraced Courtyard House

Built on a north-facing slope in southern Johannesburg, the house is organised around a clear hierarchy of spaces, from the public arrival area at the top of the site to the private bedrooms below.

Visitors arrive beneath a shaded pergola with guest parking and a three-car garage; a corner staircase leads to an intermediate L-shaped level holding the kitchen, living and dining spaces, which open onto a sheltered pool terrace with braai facilities.

A carefully placed slot in the north-facing wall frames views to the distant suburbs while connecting visually to the U-shaped bedroom wing and a lower terrace with a central koi pond.
