ARCHITECT · CAPE TOWN
About

Buildings as a concrete legacy for the generations that follow.

Brian Bernhardt is a project architect with thirty years of experience, focused since 2012 on sustainable, bespoke homes across the Atlantic Seaboard and greater Cape Town.

The practice

Experience that shows up in the detail.

Over three decades and across varied climates, the work has always returned to the same principle: a building should serve the people who use it for far longer than it takes to build. That means resolving the hard details early, administering the contract with rigour, and designing for energy and durability from the first sketch.

As Principal Agent under the JBCC building contract, Brian manages each project end to end — a single point of accountability from concept to final inspection.

What sets the work apart

Four things clients rely on.

01

Single accountability

One architect responsible for design, team and outcome — not a chain of hand-offs.

02

Sustainability by default

Energy-efficient, SANS 10400-XA compliant design that lowers running costs for the building life.

03

Seaboard specialism

Twelve years tuned to the sites, light and planning context of the Atlantic Seaboard.

04

Contract rigour

JBCC administration that protects quality, budget and programme on site.
