Stilt House — principal exterior over False Bay
Set on a north-facing fynbos mountainside overlooking False Bay, the existing stilt house was remodelled and extended to strengthen the relationship between living spaces and landscape.
The upper floor was reconfigured with new bedrooms, improved circulation and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. A new lower level beneath the house provides a self-contained studio, service areas and access to a partially enclosed terrace with panoramic bay views.
Sustainability was central: a borehole and water-purification system alongside a roof-mounted solar array with inverter and battery backup let the house operate with minimal reliance on municipal services.
